Jericho at a glance
Jericho is a North Shore hamlet whose farmland was largely sold to developers in the 1950s for suburban housing, with its water tower erected in 1952. In 1958 the state widened Routes 106/107 and built a cloverleaf at Jericho Turnpike, removing much of "Old Jericho". The hamlet is served by the Jericho Water District, founded in 1923.
